Mary Poppins Baby Shower Games

It's been a difficult year for us but God has been so good.  As we excitedly learned we were having a baby, we found ourselves facing a lot of growing up and working through things we'd put off, garbage we didn't want to deal with quite yet.

It honestly seems like just yesterday we were in high school, just hanging out with friends, dating, and looking forward to the next dance.  How did we suddenly get here?  When did we officially become adults and suddenly have a kid on the way that's going to look to us for so much?

We're realizing more and more the responsibility coming our way and we have SO much respect for parents, our parents in particular, but many others who God only knows how they juggle it all.

As we're getting our hearts and home ready for our baby boy this August, we were so incredibly grateful that some dear friends and family members hosted a baby shower for us.  Then, we got even more giddy as we got to work with some awesome vendors to create a baby shower themed so perfectly for us…

Introducing our Mary Poppins Jolly Holiday inspired baby shower.

Okay, why Mary Poppins Jolly Holiday?

Other than the obvious "we're Disney fans" answer – I have a weird respect and love for penguins.  For some people, it's dogs, cats, frogs.  I grew up loving penguins.  They're just noble creatures who actually have a whole romantic ritual where the guy penguin gives the girl penguin a special rock (sound familiar?), endure the harshest weather and situations, stay in lifelong monogamous relationships (well OK certain breeds), and endure the harshest impossible conditions to keep their family going.  I respect them.

But we were going to have a summer baby shower so the dilemma was…how do you incorporate penguins in the summer?

David surprised me with a Mary Poppins blu-ray one night and we just started watching and SUDDENLY the Mary Poppins Jolly Holiday scene comes on when the penguin waiters rush in to be of service.  We fell in love with that scene and thought it would be perfect for our baby's themed shower.

WHEW no more talk – onto the details!
